Substance use disorder evaluations
Whether someone struggling with an addiction recognizes they have a problem or not, taking the first step toward getting help is always the most difficult.
If you’re an individual or know someone living with an addiction, we can help you start on your path to recovery. The first step is to call and schedule an appointment or walk in to one of our clinics in Malone or Saranac Lake. If the need is urgent, call our Crisis and Recovery Center at 518-481-8160 or click here for more information.
Our highly-trained and comforting clinicians will meet with you and review your addiction history, substance of choice and start to look at some of the external factors that may be contributing to the pattern of addiction. This can include a personal trauma, family issues, employment history or other factors. This initial evaluation normally takes about an hour, depending on the individual needs.
Out of this comprehensive assessment, our clinicians will recommend various levels of care, which can include, but is not limited to, outpatient individual or group therapy, referral for suboxone and, if needed, referrals for higher levels of care like inpatient addiction treatment.
If inpatient treatment is recommended, our caregivers are there to guide you every step of the way. From making the necessary phone calls and speaking with an intake coordinator to managing transportation and any prior authorizations with insurance companies or other required approvals. Our promise is to make the process as easy as possible.
The assessment focuses on several risk factors, and recommends a course of treatment and supports to prevent a future incident of impaired driving.
