Britten, Inc. produced and installed the building wrap on the former Gorman Building this week. Crews from the company were on site affixing the wrap representing a revitalized Harison Place for downtown Malone.

MALONE, N.Y. – Citizen Advocates unveiled a temporary building ‘wrap’ this week displaying the proposed plans for the Harison Place project.

“The wrap is in place to secure the property until we are ready for demolition, but also to provide an inspiring view of what we can accomplish together as a community,” said James Button, Chief Operations Officer for Citizen Advocates. “We are committed to revitalizing communities in northern New York as part of our mission to Make Lives Better.”

In addition to providing a wide range of quality clinical services, Citizen Advocates offers supports that promote individual health through stable housing, job training and transportation.

The wrap is a visualization of what the revitalized properties will look like, and is secured to the former Gorman Building facing east toward Plattsburgh and along the Main Street side of the building.

Citizen Advocates will remove blighted property in order to achieve significant revitalization of Main Street in the Village of Malone with the eventual development of a 40-unit supportive housing initiative including commercial space on the ground floor.

“Blighted and decaying properties in the heart of a downtown community are a disincentive for new business and discourages the growth of residential development,” said Mr. Button. “With this transformational project we hope to provide a setting that encourages investment and a place to live so that Main Street can once again be a thriving hub of the community.”

The project continues to move forward as Citizen Advocates work with project developers on the financing and detailed building plans for the housing and commercial space initiative.
