We offer professional counseling and behavioral health services for:

  • Depression and mood disorders

  • Trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
  • Substance use and addiction recovery

  • Relationship and family challenges
  • Life transitions, grief and stress

Our licensed and certified professionals provide evidence-based treatment in a supportive, confidential setting.

Initial Assessment & Evaluation

Every individual entering our care begins with a comprehensive mental health evaluation.

During this session, our highly trained therapists:

  • Review your mental health history
  • Explore external stressors (family, employment, trauma, relationships)
  • Identify symptoms affecting daily life
  • Assess strengths and support systems

This evaluation typically takes about one hour. From there, we recommend the appropriate level of care, which may include:

  • Outpatient individual therapy
  • Group therapy
  • Family or couples counseling
  • Psychiatric services
  • Community-based supports
  • Referral to higher levels of care, if needed

If inpatient treatment is recommended, our team assists with coordination, transportation, insurance authorizations and intake planning. Our promise is to make the process as smooth as possible.

Types of Therapy We Offer

Citizen Advocates’ therapy services are flexible and personalized. Your treatment plan may include one or more of the following:

Individual Therapy

One-on-one counseling provides a safe, private space to explore thoughts, emotions, behaviors and life challenges.

Individual therapy can help with:

  • Managing anxiety or depression
  • Developing coping skills
  • Improving emotional regulation
  • Building resilience
  • Achieving and maintaining sobriety
  • Addressing trauma
Group Therapy

You are not alone.

Group therapy brings together individuals who share similar experiences. In a structured and professionally facilitated environment, participants support one another while working toward personal goals.

Group therapy may focus on:

  • Managing mental health
  • Substance use recovery
  • Parenting skills
  • Communication and interpersonal growth
  • Stress tolerance
  • Co-occurring disorders
  • Problem-solving as a group

An initial one-on-one assessment is required before joining any therapy group.

Family & Couples Counseling

Family and loved ones play a vital role in healing and recovery.

Our family psychotherapy services help address:

  • Marital or relationship concerns
  • Adjusting to a newborn
  • Separation or divorce
  • Grief and loss
  • Aging-related changes
  • Major life transitions

We work with couples and families to improve communication, reduce conflict and build healthier dynamics.

Evidence-Based Approaches Used in Citizen Advocates Therapy

Our therapists use proven, research-backed treatment models, including:

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Helps individuals identify and change unhelpful thoughts and behaviors to improve mood and functioning.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy-Informed (DBT-Informed)

Teaches skills to regulate emotions, manage distress and strengthen relationships.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

An interactive psychotherapy technique used to relieve psychological stress, particularly effective for trauma and PTSD.

Your therapist will determine which approaches best support your goals.

Co-Occurring Behavioral Health Services

Many individuals experience both mental health and substance use challenges at the same time. Our therapy services include specialized care for co-occurring disorders.

Our integrated approach addresses mood and anxiety disorders, behavioral challenges, addiction and recovery, and family impact.

Treatment plans are individualized and may include counseling, psychiatric services, community supports and referrals as needed.

When Should You Seek Therapy?

  • Persistent depression or anxiety
  • Difficulty concentrating
  • Withdrawal from family or friends
  • Increased substance use
  • Disruptions to work, school or daily life
