Elizabeth Greis providing mental health, addiction treatment at Saranac Lake clinic

MALONE, N.Y. – Citizen Advocates is proud to announce the addition of a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner at its integrated outpatient mental health and addiction treatment clinic in Saranac Lake.

Liz Greis first earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from University at Buffalo. As a Registered Nurse, she first worked on the Medical/Surgical floors and then moved up to the Intensive Care Unit at Roswell Park Cancer Institute. During this time she earned her Master of Science in Psychiatric Nursing from University at Buffalo as well. Ms. Greis is a member of the American Psychiatric Nurses Association.

Ms. Greis started out in a private practice, later joining Horizon Health Services where she assessed and diagnosed adults seeking mental health treatment. She also prescribed and monitored patients receiving medication for mental health treatment, and assisted with coordination of care between her office, external medical offices and substance use providers. Ms. Greis was part of a multi-disciplinary team focused on exceptional patient care and family support.

“When it comes to treatment and developing a person-centered care plan, it’s important to gain a complete understanding of the needs and concerns of each individual patient,” said Ms. Greis. “Person-centered care is at the heart of what Citizen Advocates is about, which allows me to focus on making sure those we support are receiving the treatment and resources needed on their unique path of recovery.”

As a Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner for Citizen Advocates, Ms. Greis is responsible for assessing and diagnosing children, adolescents and adults seeking mental health and addiction treatment. She will oversee medication management for mental health care, along with suboxone induction and other medications for the treatment of addiction.

Originally from the Saratoga Springs area, Ms. Greis is excited to be in the Adirondack region. She resides with her husband and son in Saranac Lake.  In their free time they enjoy hiking, skiing, traveling and spending time with family.

To schedule an appointment with Ms. Greis for mental health or addiction services, contact Saranac Lake behavioral health clinic at (518) 891-5535.
