The Watertown Behavioral Health Urgent Care Center is now officially providing lifesaving mental health and addiction treatment services around the clock, 24/7/365.

The Behavioral Health Urgent Care model was pioneered by Citizen Advocates in 2017, which was the first of its kind in the state and includes locations in Malone, Ogdensburg and Watertown.

The clinic officially opened earlier this year and was recently granted state approval to provide 24-hour access to behavioral health urgent care – no appointment needed.  The approval means the clinic can now offer overnight stays for mental health or addiction support on a completely voluntary basis.

The newest Citizen Advocates’ facility offers enhanced clinical care to confront the addiction crisis facing Northern New York. Whether it’s in the clinic setting or in the community, the services offered through the Watertown Behavioral Health Campus are tailored to provide individuals with the right care, at the right time, in the right place.

The mental health and addiction treatment services available to all ages at the Behavioral Health Campus include:

  • 24-hour access to crisis residence services for children & adults
  • Medication management
  • Outpatient withdrawal management services
  • Individual, group, and family mental health & addiction counseling
  • Peer support services
  • Care coordination
  • Smoking cessation
  • Access to services via telehealth

“With each successive clinic we’ve opened since trailblazing a new path with the first Behavioral Health Urgent Care Center in Malone, our mission has been to help the region grapple with a surging demand for mental health and addiction treatment,” said James Button, President & CEO of Citizen Advocates. “The antidote to that demand has been an unwavering commitment to provide the immediate support people need without the red tape – our unique brand of high quality, exceptional care is available 24/7, no referral needed, no appointment needed – meaning walk-ins are always welcome.”

Key facts about the new Behavioral Health Campus located at 650 State Street are as follows:

  • Total square footage: 11,525
  • Construction timeline: 8 months
  • Project cost: $5.1 million
  • Number of employees: ~62 when fully staffed – physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, therapists, case managers, peer specialists, and customer support
