Coming together to lighten the burdens of one another

FacebookTwitterLinkedInEmail

Dear Team Citizen Advocates, Families and Friends,

Since we wrote last week, our whole team has been doing all the necessary and vital work to continue preparations for a possible surge in COVID-19 cases regionally. It is with great spirit that that you do the heavy lifting whether it be in direct care and support of the individuals we serve – or supporting them with whatever is necessary to be the best we can be.

I am reminded about service through this quote which I keep close-by …
“No one is useless in this world who lightens the burdens of another.”
– Charles Dickens.

YOU are very important in lightening the burdens of another. And how strongly we feel about this.

Our priorities during these challenging times are simple:
• Provide the best care and supports to the people we serve.
–And–
• Ensure that each of you is fully employed and in a manner
which provides you, not only with professional satisfaction, but also personally.

What do the next weeks look like? Each day we learn more about aspects of the pandemic. No matter the outcome, preparation is key and our teams are doing so with the spirit and heart that speaks to our mission of “Making Lives Better.”

Preparations continue to be extensive – ensuring that ordinary supplies/services are in our homes and facilities; sourcing medical supplies appropriate for the COVID-response; consistency in staffing; working with the county in sourcing materials; coordinating with the community; providing the technical support to those of you who work from home; and so much more.

We do recognize that many of you are doing more than one job – your regular job and then COVID-19 tasks. And, in many cases, working from home which, at times, has its own challenges. We understand that! And Thank You!

At the end of the COVID-19 crises (Yes, there will be an end), we will all be better off. You will have made a vast difference in the lives of the vulnerable among us and, for some, a big difference in your personal lives having followed the sage advice of Charles Dickens: “No one is useless in this world who lightens the burdens of another.”

We march forward together!

Respectfully, Your Servant Leader,
Jim Forbes,
CEO (interim)
